Some Reveals and Few Unveilings

September 17, 2010

I wouldn’t be doing my job as sponsor of Leamington’s most glamorous striptease event if I didn’t take one last opportunity to give the night a massive plug. But before I talk about the Garter Lounge, I’m pleased to announce I am taking something off myself.

£50 off any boudoir session booked in from today until 31st December 2010

With Christmas and Valentine’s Day around the corner, there’s no better gift for that special someone in your life. A £200 session includes hair, make-up a full photoshoot, post production and two 7×5″ prints all ready to frame – and you don’t have to have the shoot before the end of the year, just get it booked in and pay a deposit of £50.

(Though it is worth bearing in mind if you want to guarantee prints and albums back for Christmas Day the last day for sessions will be 3rd December and for Valentines 28th January 2010)

Alternatively if you are looking to buy a session as a present for someone the same offer applies, and I have just taken delivery of my stunning new gift boxes. I think they really look the part, are large enough for you to add in your own gifts and come in a shiny black finish, all laced with a red ribbon.

Now the keen-eyed blog readers among you might recognise my willing model on the promotional flyers as Veronica Kupcake. We enjoyed a great shoot recently and ticked off loads of classic poses that will be serving as a look-book and some showcase images for the future. As a talented graphic designer herself it was ace to collaborate with another creative mind, and by the end of the session we were buzzing with ideas of fun and interesting things we could do together.

The first of which I am proud to unveil here.

Leamington Spa based alternative burlesque life drawing

Hopefully we'll draw a crowd too

Quite independently we have both been thinking about setting up a Dr Sketchy’s night in the area. For those of you who aren’t familiar with the concept it is an anti-art school – sort of life drawing with a burlesque twist and has branches all over the globe and 8 flourishing in the UK. Unfortunately it’s their policy not to have branches within an hour’s drive of each other and Coventry already has one. However, undeterred by their particular franchise business model, Veronika and I are proud to introduce ‘Pencils & Pin Ups’ the alternative, alternative life drawing group.

Meetings will start early next year, so head over to the website and register your interest.

We’ll keep you posted.

So anyway, I can’t believe how quickly Garter Lounge has come round. The summer has been so busy with the new studio, back-to-back weddings, boudoir shoots AND the kids being off school, that I’ve barely had time to think, let alone get excited.

But now I am. Very.

Promotional bits and boobs for Darkteaser's first Leamington Garter Lounge

It’s been a buzz to see the Raquel Rouge brand on all the material around and about the place and I’m very proud to be involved in what promises to be an amazing night. My favourite diva Darkteaser has set her sights high with this one and pulled together some of the best acts in business in one of the best settings for a burlesque night in the country.

I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and photographing a few of the acts before – the fantastically cheeky and charismatic compere Joe Black, the elegant Veronika Valentine, Chrys Columbine and Starla Haze, the fun and vivacious Emerald Ace and Bam Bam Blue and the out-and-out saucepot Lexi Sexx – and I’m looking forward to catching up with those performers I have yet to meet.

I really hope that hardened fans and newcomers alike turn out and have a great time. There should be tickets available on the door, but to be on the safe side go directly to The Assembly and pay yer money upfront.

I will be there, along with a little stall which Vanessa and Jeni will be (wo)manning while I am out and about with the camera.

Please come up and say Hi and, if you really want to, buy me a large glass of Pinot.

Lord knows I need one.

RS x
